Welcome to the SIMCAC Weekly Newsletter....
....Where each week, we'll share SIMCAC announcements, member spotlights, local/national industry news, upcoming events, and recaps of past ones!

SIMCAC 2018 Year in Review

Unlike many of the event vendors that persistently target tech leaders in our area, we are the only professional association of senior technology leaders, run solely by volunteers, that offers a tight-knit community of peers, meaningful learning opportunities regarding hot industry topics, and the ability to make an impact through our STEM charitable foundation. If you are a senior technology leader in the DC metro, please consider joining. Our chapter is rapidly growing and we have an ambitious agenda for 2019. Come be a part of it!

Major Chapter Accomplishments

SIMCAC has made some significant investments in 2018 and it is paying off!  As a result, we are attracting and retaining members better than we have in years, adding 40 new members in 2018 and yielding renewal rates that have already exceeded expectations. Here are just a few examples of what we accomplished this year:

  • We invested in quality programming and meeting attendance numbers are way up:  We diversified our meeting locations and meeting formats, attracted great speakers/panelists, and delivered meaningful opportunities for peer learning around hot topics.  As a result, our meetings are now generally attended by 40-50 senior technology leaders, which is approximately 3 times higher than 2017.
  • We built a digital presence that better represents and enhances our brand:  Through investments in our website, the addition of a weekly newsletter, and a focus on our social media presence, we reintroduced SIMCAC to the DC Metro
  • We diversified and expanded our revenue sources:  Through the addition of a sponsorship program that aligns with our values, we created a revenue source that protects our members from unwanted solicitation while proving the funds necessary to close capability gaps, expand our offerings, and grow our charitable foundation.
  • We deepened our leadership bench:  We added and filled 2 new board positions, and restructured existing roles, better positioning us to focus on our strategic priorities in 2019.
  • We made a difference:  We donated a total of $9500 in 2018 to 3 worthy organizations:  She Rocks The World, STEM for Her, and Wizards.exe (a Montgomery County robotics club that represented the US in a global robotics competition this past summer)
  • We positioned ourselves to make a bigger difference over the years to come:  Thanks to the work of Joe Malfesi, SIMCAC is prepared more than ever to donate time and money to worthy local STEM organizations
