A message from SIMCAC's new Chair, Wayne McGurk:
Fellow SIMCAC Members –
Hello and Happy New Year to you all. I am excited to begin 2023 in my new role as the Chair of the SIMCAC organization. Mike Huthwaite has done a great job acting as Chair for the past 5 years, helping to grow the chapter and navigate through unprecedented times. I want to thank him for his dedication to the role, his guidance to members, and the vast achievements he accomplished, continuing to make SIMCAC a vital resource for IT leaders throughout the DMV area. I’m honored to pick up where he left off, leading this distinguished group of volunteers.
For those who don’t know me, I am the Chief Information Officer and SVP of IT at NRECA. Prior to my role at NRECA, I served as executive vice president and CIO at MoneyGram International and have held various IT leadership and management roles in global retail, software, financial services, and IT consulting companies. I’ve been involved in some capacity of the IT world for over 25 years. I’m excited to use this role to share my experiences and learn from the diverse pool of leaders in the area.
In 2023 we have a full slate of activities designed to bolster engagement within the chapter and keep conversations flowing on the emerging changes impacting the IT landscape. Some focus areas I’d like to tackle include growing value for our membership while at the same time, adapting to the changing IT environments by offering a mix of in-person and hybrid events. Additionally, we will continue to give back by continuing our outreach activities such as the charity golf tournament and other philanthropic activities. We will also collaborate with the larger IT community, sharing expertise with fellow leaders in the area through our new Enclave event – an exclusive evening out with CIOs, offering an opportunity to discuss relevant topics and share expertise.
Technology is in a rapid state of change. This year I would like to focus on how we can help our customers in our respective businesses, both internal and external, adapt to the changes. I’m thrilled to start this journey with all of you!
