2018 Nevada IT Symposium

Tuscany Las Vegas

This year's Nevada IT Symposium will be held at the Tuscany Suite and Casino on April 4th.  This event provides opportunity for IT leaders and professionals to network and participate in discussions of interest and complexity.  Keynote speakers include Tamara Kleinberg, founder/CEO of LaunchStreet and Steve Brown, CEO of Possibility & Purpose.

SIM Las Vegas has been a long time Strategic Partner of the Symposium, offering assistance in organizing the event, planning content, and promotion.  This year, SIM will be hosting an Executive Roundtable in conjunction with the event.

The Executive Roundtable is an CxO invite only session to discuss and overcome the IT workforce gap situation in Nevada.  The abstract for the session states:

Nevada must build a workforce to supply the demand for IT and manufacturing talent.  The State has mandated that certain workforce measurements be met.  However, there seems to be a disconnect between creating the talent and employing them, particularly in the young adult pipeline.  Thus, there is still a workforce gap.  The Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation wants to host a discussion with the Top IT Leaders in Southern Nevada to find ways to overcome the employment challenges, so the state can properly support the development and retainment of IT talent in a diversified "New Nevada.”

In attendance will be top IT and Business leaders from all industries.  Manny Lamarre, the Executive Director of OWINN, and Paul Anderson, the Executive Director of GOED, will pose questions and request feedback about State workforce programs, including the new IT Apprenticeship program.  IT and Business leaders will get a chance to influence and mature these programs through debate, discussion, and decisions.  There is no better time to influence change.
