  1. Share a fun personal fact: My husband and I built a Vans RV-10 airplane in our garage over 3.5 years. It took a total of 2800 hours to build. We fly across the country with our 2 boys and vlog about our flying family adventures.
  2. How long have you been a SIM member? 6 months
  3. Why do you invest your time in SIM? I’ve learned so much from the MN IT community over the past 17 years. What an awesome group of technology peers we have in MN! I wanted to give back and help SIM support the practice of IT Leadership in Minnesota.
  4. What is one of the most important lessons you’ve learned in your career? We discover what we know when we articulate it to others.
  5. Tell us about an impactful SIM event that you’ve attended, and what you took away from it. I’ve loved many recent SIM events, but one that stands out is Heather Polivka’s session on Retaining/Engaging Great Talent. I still have a sticky note on my desk that says:
  •  Give POSITIVE reinforcing feedback (ratio 4/1 positive/constructive)
  •  ASK for feedback from your team. "What can I start, stop, and continue doing?"
  •  In your next status meeting with team members, ask what THEY WANT to be recognized for.
  •  Over the next week, LISTEN more than you talk in all areas of your life. Listen to truly understand.
  1. What is one goal you have for 2022? Climb a 15-foot rope and do a pull up (I have two goals lol!)
  2. If you could have 1 day with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why? My mom. She was diagnosed with colon cancer when I was 8 and died when I was 13. I would love to talk motherhood (now that I’m a mom), life, and horses over a glass of wine and a country sunset.
  3. How will we remember you? Hopefully as a person that wasn’t afraid to try, learn, dig in, and enjoy the process of helping others grow.
