OCT. 29 - Tech Leadership Company Hosting Opportunity (Company to host students in virtual meet and greet with company staff so trainees can observe the day-to-day responsibilities of one or more departments and allow for trainees to learn about company culture, work/life balance, key skills for employment success, company mission/vision and how each department works to meet that shared vision, tips for collaborating and presence in a virtual/hybrid setting, and other topics recommended by the host company) 
3. NOV. 4 - Tech Panel and Coaching Opportunity (SIM members and Friends of SIM participate in Panel Discussion, Coaching, and Networking with Power Students and address students' questions looking to break into the tech field and help them gain networking experience and hear from industry professionals about professional growth, areas of study, challenges, changes within the tech field, emerging trends, and new avenues within tech to explore.)

Technovation Girls Global Competition

Technovation is a global program that equips young women ages 10-18 to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Many SIMNY'ers  joined the global judging panel again this year.  We evaluated some of the many innovative apps submitted from inspired teams who focused on solving pressing problems in their communities around the world.

NYC FIRST Tech Challenge

Supporting broad STEM education, SIMNY members served as judges in the NYC FIRST Challenge. High School teams designed and built working robots while overcoming pandemic challenges.  Students applied advanced techniques while collaborating remotely.  SIMNY is proud to support tech leaders of the future.

Tech Upgrade at the MTA and the role of the Deputy CTO

Marge Ginsburg, MTA Deputy CTO joined Rafail Portnoy, MTA CTO for a discussion on the MTA's IT transformation and how the Deputy CTO partners with the CTO to move the MTA forward. The Deputy CTO role has seen an emergence to oversee IT development and operations, giving CTOs time to focus on communicating the IT vision and growing relationships with client business units to push innovation.
