DevoOps Engineers

The Tech Incubation team is a new program at MSK that aspires to stretch and transform the existing boundaries in cancer care at the confluence of tech and health. We function as a pipeline for innovation that supports bold, scientific experimentation with new technologies in a variety of breakthrough domains that could play an important role in helping shape MSK’s digital transformation. The team is a multidisciplinary group of designers, engineers and data scientists whose activities range from basic tech research, to proof of concept and design work, to streamlined pilots and evaluations of new technologies in production clinical and business environments. We also reach beyond institutional walls to forge collaborations with academic, startup, and established industry partners to accelerate and augment these activities. 

What will you work on? Tech Incubation is searching for someone who will help push forward the adoption of DevOps culture, practices, and tooling as we test new ideas and technologies. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be developing deployment and observability mechanisms that accelerate our delivery, discovery, and evaluation of new ideas. Responsibilities also include interacting with and developing on-prem and cloud-based systems, informing stakeholders of emerging technologies and practices, anticipating and addressing infrastructure needs, assisting engineers with resolving issues throughout the application lifecycle, and working closely not just with members of Tech Incubation but also MSK’s cloud and security teams, as well as other teams adopting DevOps practices. 

Who are we? We are an experienced multidisciplinary team that covers the full lifecycle of project development, from idea stage all the way to production ready. We operate in a product model where you will work in a team of talented software engineers, as well as data scientists and designers. 

Responsibilities:

·        Develop scalable methods for building, deploying, and supporting cloud-based enterprise services and systems. 

·        Work closely with developers to deploy and operate solutions + automate and streamline our processes 

·        Help to scale our infrastructure using automation to manage complex and changing systems. 

·        Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitor IT operations, & troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments 

·        Interact, develop, engineer, and communicate with decision makers 

Our ideal candidate:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. 

·        Experience with software deployment and orchestration technologies. 

·        Experience with AWS 

·        Experience designing and implementing cloud architectures; build and release management; CI/CD; using scripting languages to create end to end solutions, integrating automated testing into CI. 

·        Preferable experience with agile development and infrastructure as code 

·        Great communicator, excited to mentor across diverse teams with varied technical backgrounds.
