Daniel Spurling

Daniel is a proven executive with 25 years of experience leading technology organizations and enterprise transformation initiatives.  At Slalom, Daniel works with clients to grow their business through new product creation, enhanced cloud adoption, and increased delivery velocity with operational maturity.   With a broad business and technical background, Daniel currently leads Slalom’s Cloud and Development teams here in Seattle.  He previously held leadership roles at Endra, Getty Images, T-Mobile, JPMorgan Chase, and other consulting firms.  While his MBA and other certifications check boxes, most of his learnings have come from successes and failures in real life.

Paul Farrall is currently Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISCO) at Skytap, Inc. in Seattle where is responsible for global IT Operations of Skytap's Cloud Infrastructure products and Skytap corporate IT services.  Prior to Skytap, Paul was VP of Operations at Big Fish Games in Seattle where he had responsibility for IT infrastructure, web operations, cloud game streaming operations, corporate IT services, and information security.  He has been a member of the Seattle IT community for seventeen years with a primary focus on web operations and IT infrastructure.  Paul has been a member of SIM since 2011 and previously served as Seattle SIM VP of Programs.

Tom McSweeney

Tom (only his wife calls him “Thomas”) was born in a Philadelphia suburb and recently transplanted himself to the Great Northwest back in 2008. As an entrepreneur, Tom developed software that was later granted two patents. As a leader, he has spent the last 20 years managing technological teams in the medical and telecommunications industries (not related but speaks to his range). As a golfer, he has hacked up courses all over the United States and Canada, finally breaking 80 in 2017. As a musician, he has played rhythm guitar in a number of bands over the last 30 years. And as a student of the human condition, Tom has gathered a plethora of stories from his experiences and begun publishing them with his unique brand of sagacious humor.

Otto Pijpker

Otto Pijpker brings more than 20 years of broad marketing communications experience to SIM. After a stint as a sports editor in the Netherlands, Otto has held several senior marketing communication roles in various industries, including healthcare insurance, hardware, software and consumer products.

Otto has worked at several start-up technology companies, public relations agency Waggener Edstrom, and spent 8 plus years in a variety of senior communications roles at Intel Corporation. In 2007 Otto joined Microsoft to centralize the Server & Tools Business Group PR team, leading the communication efforts for several high-profile product launches, including Windows Server 2008. In 2010 he became Director of Marketing Communications for the Office of the CIO where Otto managed all internal, external and executive marketing communication efforts for Microsoft IT and the company's Chief Information Officer (CIO) until 2017. Today, Otto is an Senior Manager for Bridge Partners Consulting, supporting a variety of clients, while also implementing a Storytelling Practice for the company.

Otto holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Central Washington University, where he was honored with the 'Distinguished Alumni Award' for the department of Communications in 2010. Today he serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Arts & Humanities at CWU. A native of the Netherlands and fluent in three languages, Otto also attended the School for Journalism in city of Kampen, majoring in print journalism.

In his spare time Otto enjoys golf, movies and a good glass of wine. He resides with his wife and two sons in Beaux Arts.

Beth has been an information technology executive for over 15 years for companies such as Behr Paint and Milgard Windows, where she has been responsible for delivering enhanced company results through the strategic implementation of technology, organization and process transformation. She provides leadership to the IT community as a long-standing member and board member of multiple chapters of SIM, and as advisor and speaker at various organizations and industry events. Beth holds a B. S., Information Systems from University of Redlands in California.

Barend Brink is originally from Cape Town, South Africa.  Barend earned a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Stellenbosch in 1994 and in 2001 completed an MBA at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 2001.  Shortly after completing his MBA, Barend was recruited by Microsoft for a position in Redmond WA.  After 14 years at Microsoft and a short stint at a San Francisco startup, Barend is currently working for F5 Networks where he holds a manager position in the Product Development organization.  Barend is a graduate of the 2012 Regional Leadership Forum (Northwest region).

William York is a technologist and leader, with experience facilitating technology in organizations from cybersecurity to semiconductor manufacturing, from federal government to global retail. He has been a member of SIM since attending RLF in 2010.

Sean Chighizola

Sean Chighizola has more than 15+ years of experience as a proven Executive Technology Leader with extensive knowledge in IT Strategy, Digital Transformation, Cloud and productizing environments. Most recently he was the SVP, IT and Engineering at Big Fish Games before supporting the sale of the company for $990 million. He oversaw 100+ staff in Global Project Management Office, Information Security, Mobile & Platform Engineering and IT Operations teams.

Sean is actively engaged in the technology community presenting at conferences, webinars and is a previous member of CIO Executive Council and Gaming Global Customer Advisory Board for Akamai. He holds a B.S. from Linfield College and a Masters in Business Administration from Boise State University (candidate).

Mia Vyzis is a born and raised Seattleite, and completed her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Washington. Post-Grad School, she worked in real estate investment, and then made the transition over to the IT industry. She is now in her 5th year as a Client Advocate at a Seattle-based IT agency named StrataCore. StrataCore is an unbiased advocate that helps companies source best-in-class IT solutions, with customers such as Getty Images, Tableau Software, and Symantec. Additionally, StrataCore has been a long-time member and sponsor of Seattle SIM.
