LA Wildfires Task Force: SCSIM Cares and “Tech Leaders Helping with Tech”

SCSIM, through the SIM Foundation, is launching an urgent initiative to support LA County residents affected by the devastating wildfires. The SIM Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is committed to leveraging our resources to provide critical assistance to those impacted. An anonymous donor has generously pledged to match all contributions up to $5,000, doubling the impact of every donation!

We are partnering with respected local organizations, including the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, YMCA LA, and Human-I-T, to provide relief funds. Donations are 100% tax-deductible and will directly support people impacted by the wildfires through emergency food distribution, community support programs, and technology access for displaced families. You can support the cause by making your donation at: https://SIMSoCal.givesmart.com

SCSIM is also collaborating with the “Tech Leaders Helping with Tech” initiative to provide laptops and tablets to those displaced by the wildfires. Please visit the Human -I-T page to donate your unused equipment to Human-I-T. Whether your company has 5 or 50 laptops to donate, this is a great way to prevent devices from ending up in landfills. Human-I-T will refurbish the devices and distribute them to impacted Los Angeles County residents at no cost. Help us reach our goal of 5,000 donated laptops!.

To our SCSIM Community,

We need to hear from you. Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation from the fast-moving and catastrophic wildfires that have taken place across Los Angeles County. We hope this message finds you safe and out of harm's way.

For those experiencing loss:

  • We are compiling a list of members in need of support, such as temporary lodging, transportation, or simply a listening ear. Please reach out by completing this form - SCSIM Cares - How Can We Help

  • Please know that you are not alone. The strength of our community lies in our shared support and compassion for one another.

  • lacounty.gov/emergency continues to be the most comprehensive place for information related to shelters, food/clothing/water distribution sites, resources, and more.

For those who want to help:

  • If you or your organization are willing to help, please complete this form - SCSIM Cares - How Can You Help. This may include monetary donations or gifts of time, shelter, clothing, etc.

  • For example, one of our SCSIM member organizations, Living Spaces, is graciously donating free mattresses for those impacted by the fires. Please visit CA Fire Relief.

We offer our heartfelt sympathies to everyone who has been impacted or displaced. We extend our deepest gratitude to the brave first responders who continue to work around the clock to protect lives and property, and to all those who are offering their support and resources during this challenging time.

We encourage you to check in on your fellow SCSIM members, especially those who may be in vulnerable situations. Thank you for being a part of this SCSIM community that is vested in helping each other.
