Data Privacy and GDPR: What does it mean for you?

Data privacy is already a top concern for all companies, but the challenges are about to increase. In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take effect. The GDPR applies to all companies worldwide that process personal data of European Union (EU) citizens. This means that any company that works with information relating to EU citizens will have to comply with the requirements of the GDPR, making it the first global data protection law.

Join us to discuss the impact of GDPR on your organization, and what you can do to prepare. Our panel of local experts includes:

    • Tony Howlett, CTO of Codero and President of the Austin (ISC)2 Chapter (

    • Sean McCleskey, Director of Organizational Education and Measurement, UT Center for Identity (

    • Charles Valentine, VP of Technology Services at Indeed (

    • Moderated by: Bart Lauwers, CTO of Signacert and Membership Chair of the Austin (ISC)2 and SIM Chapters (

Bring a friend or colleague to introduce them to the Austin SIM chapter, and enjoy catering by The Peached Tortilla. Please note that an NDA will be required for entry into the Indeed facilities.
