David Berry is an award winning, multi-industry and innovative CIO/CTO/M&A Executive who has dealt with technology and value-chain disruptions and delivered strategic, innovative technologies at world-class organizations. He is a recognized CIO/CTO for businesses, organizations, technologies, M&A and digital transformations in multiple industries: cold chain logistics, aerospace, insurance, retail, apparel, footwear, CPG (food/cosmetics/drink), restaurants, high-tech, private brand, and software - on a global scale. He worked in over 20 countries; lived in France, Spain, and The Netherlands for 15 years, and has held the most senior technology responsibilities for global companies. His years as an operating executive have been with globally branded companies: Burger King, Häagen-Dazs, Dannon, Coty , Polycom, TOMS Shoes, ascena retail group, HomeServe USA, Daymon Worldwide, lululemon athletica (Vancouver), Bombardier Aerospace (Montreal), AGRO Merchants Group, Americold and currently, CIO at Boardriders in Huntington Beach, CA and St Jean de Luz, France.
As a technology exec, he leads global technology teams to innovate via executing strategic, cross-functional implementations of global systems: from front-end digital/mobile/POS/CRM/eCommerce to back-end applications, technologies and outsourcing. His expertise is in digital transformations: quickly gain credibility of the technology function, establish relationships, governance, and customer engagement across an enterprise. Then delivers strategic technology, digital business systems and business processes. His peers view him as a partner and mentor with an entrepreneurial spirit.
David’s achievements include implementing global BI, eCommerce, ERP, and other digital technologies. At Bombardier, he integrated the wing assembly of the Global 7500 business jet into the core of Bombardier. He also established Bombardier’s first global PMO and developed a new IT operating model. At lululemon, he implemented 10 major new systems, including digital integration / eCommerce - in less than a year. With Daymon, he forged a SaaS cloud and digital strategy and outsourced infrastructure and apps dev - in less than a year. For TOMS Shoes, he implemented real-time integrated SAP AFS with digital eCommerce in a record 10 months – in 3 countries. At ascena retail, he developed and sold-in a 3-year $150m technology/digital strategy, a new technology organization design, and data center consolidation program - in 5 months. At Coty, he developed and implemented a global technology strategy based on SAP - in 13 countries / 5 languages; outsourced procurement to IBM and implemented technology to integrate acquired businesses (Unilever and Del Labs) at record speeds. For Häagen-Dazs he implemented greenfield ERP and retail POS in France; and at Dannon, a supply-chain redesign. Along the journey were major business and technology transformations. He also held IT positions in healthcare.
David holds a bachelor’s degree, Magna cum Laude, from Pace University in Business and Information Systems. He speaks basic French and Spanish and has been published in several European and US magazines. He is a member of SIM, Executive Forum, and the CIO Executive Council.
He lives outside of New York City with his wife and their three children.
