Kathy Harp, Deputy Director of Programs
Kathy has worked in IT for about thirty years, and the inspiration for her career came when she wrote her first lines of computer code as a young teen. She was hooked instantly! Kathy has kept an enduring passion and pursuit for multiple areas of technology, and during the past several years has focused on management and leadership specializing in cybersecurity.
In her early career years, Kathy taught math and computer science to high school students and supported a campus network in the public school system. She became a full-time technical trainer with one of the leading providers of IT certification training, where she worked for a few years before joining Avnet. Kathy has worked at Avnet for over 20 years in various roles, transitioning from SME to management, and now serves as Director of Security Engineering & SOC within Avnet's cybersecurity organization.
In her free time, Kathy enjoys spending time with her adult daughter, reading, gardening, and hiking.
