In 2016 Colette decided to take time off from her work life and focus on her personal priorities. Colette prioritized spending quality time with her family while also keeping a focus on her professional life of which SIM was an instrumental component. Once Colette was ready to venture back into the work force, she became an active participant of the MIT (‘Members in Transition’) program. The program provided her an interactive forum to learn about leads, opportunities and gain advice. Through this she had the opportunity to meet many IT professionals and expand her network.
“The MIT program was a great way to connect with others and get back into the market. MIT helped me to highlight my skills and develop my personal brand.” -Colette Rubio
In 2017, Colette accepted an offer to join the WWE which also involved relocating her family from Long Island, NY to Stamford, CT. Once she and her family settled in their new residence, Colette joined FWSIM. Colette is currently a board member and an active member of the membership retention subcommittee.
“As a member of SIM, you can involve yourself as much or as little as one wants. It’s a great group to be a part of and helps keep me current. SIM has helped me develop my local network, connections and friends. It has helped me and hopefully allows me to help others.” -Colette Rubio
Colette has also served in various IT leadership positions at HBO, BD, Inc., Pepsico, and Ernst & Young. She holds an MBA, International Business from Pace University and a BBA, Computer Systems from Baruch College.
In addition to her IT professional career, Colette enjoys spending time outdoors especially at the beaches of Long Island or exploring Manhattan’s many restaurants, museums and shows.
