Meet Jim Panos - FWSIM 2020 Chapter President

Jim Panos is the Chief Information Officer for Central National Gottesman (CNG) and current President of FWSIM. CNG is a privately held $7 billion sales and marketing organization in the global pulp, paper, tissue, packaging, plywood and metals industries located in Purchase, NY.

Jim joined SIM in 2008 and quickly became a very active member. Throughout his tenure Jim has served FWSIM in numerous board positions: 2012-2014 as VP Member Services; 2015-2016 as a Director at Large; 2017 as VP Marketing; 2018-2019 as VP Strategy; and currently serves as President.

In addition to his board positions, Jim has been volunteering his time since 2018 to lead the Westchester Mentoring Circle, a nine-member peer-to-peer group that meets quarterly and provides a trusted environment to share common interests, learning objectives, and professionally develop together.

As chapter President, Jim has outlined his primary objectives to be:
1. Facilitating better communication with our members
2. Bringing high quality events and programs to the chapter
3. Continuing to foster the sense of community that we have

Earlier in his career, Jim served in various IT leadership positions at The Dannon Company, and Accenture, where he focused on the delivery of complex programs and development of new business models. His specialty areas have included corporate dashboards, business intelligence, M&A integration and ERP implementations, as well as advanced S&OP processes and supply chain transformation.

On a personal note, Jim grew up in Brooklyn and is a big NY Yankees fan. Jim had never been west of Pennsylvania until he was 18 years old and relocated to California to attend Stanford University. From there he earned a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Since graduating, Jim has sojourned in many places including San Francisco, Chicago, New Jersey, Connecticut, Canada, Philippines, Denmark, and Italy.

When Jim is not working or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with Regina, his wife of 18 years, and their children Olivia (15), Julia (10), and Matthew (7). He enjoys hiking, traveling and attending NY Yankees games.
