A Tribute to Dot Autrey

SIM Fellows | January 11, 2021

The SIM DFW chapter recently bid farewell to a Founding Fellow and one of its true luminaries, Dot Autrey.

Despite being busy in her role as a Senior IT Executive at Freddie Mac, Dot somehow found time to pour so much of herself into our chapter. In fact, she was an important part of a small group of chapter leaders that met back in 1997, when our membership was at 69 and dropping, who decided we should do something about that and today we are one of the largest SIM Chapters.

Dot served as our Treasurer from 2000 to 2011. Her financial stewardship contributed greatly to our chapter now being on such an exceptionally sound financial footing that we are the envy of many other chapters.

She also brought her family into service to our chapter. For more years than anyone can remember, we’ve all been welcomed to our monthly meetings by her son, Brett, and his wife, Kristy, who have been faithfully making sure that everyone gets checked in ”just right”. Her son, Burke, is also a long-time chapter member.

Dot also put her mark on her chapter in other ways...

Our Annual Christmas Party was shaped by Dot and her family into the cherished event that our members and their spouses have come to love.

But, perhaps, most visibly, whenever you think about our golf tournament, please remember - that event would never have become the success it is today without Dot’s leadership and that’s why it will forever honor her name.

Dot, we will miss you, not because you're gone, but that you’re gone from us.
