Beyond the Limits: Managing in the Disruptive Information Age

The rapid pace and nature of evolving technologies have been stretching, or too often, obliterating the traditional boundaries of IT management. CIOs now find themselves dealing with external factors over which they have little or no control – yet they greatly influence an organization’s business and IT posture. The Winter 2017 SCSIM forum examines some of those elements and brings forth ideas and strategies to help IT leaders navigate their organizations through the broader cyber world safely. During the event we will also announce the STEM Advantage Award as well as the RLF Champion of the Year award. The RLF Award – recognizing a member of SCSIM who has given of their time and talents to further the goals and values of RLF to our community of sponsors, graduates and future participants. TOPIC: What You Don’t See Can Harm You – The Impact of Online Information on Brands and Business

Speaker: Matt Stormoen

Synopsis: Matt Stormoen, a veteran digital strategy specialist, will talk about how demographics, consumer trends, and online information exchanges continue to drastically alter the information and operating landscape of business, and what information management leaders need to know and think about to protect their organizations’ online presence, brand, and reputation.

Matt Stormoen is founder and CEO of Pure Focus, a Los Angeles based digital marketing agency and software provider. With a career spanning over 15 years in marketing & technology, Matt has been the lead strategic resource behind the successful digital campaigns of companies such as Intel, Heroku, and TrueCar. Using advanced analytics and a cloud-based marketing platform, he has created successful data-driven digital roadmaps and content optimization strategies for brands and clients across multiple industries. Prior to founding Pure Focus, Matt held operational and marketing positions with People Support, InQ, Inc., and Reach Local.

TOPIC: Cyberhood Watch – Be Vigilant!

Speakers: SA Boeing Shih, and SOS Lauren Gomez, of the FBI Los Angeles

Synopsis: Cybercrime is on the rise, and in light of recent high profile breaches, Cybersecurity has moved beyond the purview of the CIO. CEOs and corporate boards have become actively involved in their organizations’ digital security and cyber incident response plans. Special Agent Boeing Shih, and Staff Operations Specialist Lauren Gomez, will talk about Cyberhood Watch, a private/public-sector collaboration program focused on promoting collective sharing and triage of suspicious cyber threat, and impart advice to IT leaders on starting their own “Cyberhood watch.”
