Targeted Industry Insights
SIM's Advanced Practices Council (APC) is a community of CIOs who commission academic research on IT management topics. APC research reports feature real-world case studies and applications, providing important actionable insights that are made available to all SIM members.


Specialized Journal
MIS Quarterly Executive (MISQE) is a journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research that IT executives can use. This is not the theoretical stuff of academic journals, this publication grew out of the need for current, practical research. SIM members have access to the entire MISQE Reference Library, which contains a listing of all articles published since its inception in June 2002.


Leadership Development
SIM's Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) is an intensive, nine-month program focused on creating authentic leaders. It is designed to help CIOs develop their high potential IT leaders/managers. SIM members receive a discount.


Opportunities to Give Back
SIM offers an active STEM outreach program to support the future IT workforce development. Chapters have sponsored STEM initiatives from kindergarten through college. This outreach has drawn almost $200,000 in annual donations for an assortment of national programs.


Weekly and Monthly Newsletters
SIM Connect tackles today's most relevant issues, gathered from sources like The Associated Press, The New York Times, Financial Times and the leading industry publications. SIM News Extra is a monthly newsletter, which contains a compilation of association news, articles of interest, interviews and industry insights.


Research Library
The SIM online library contains information on hundreds of relevant topics gathered from a variety of sources. It is made exclusively available to SIM members. Examples include:

  • White papers focused on IT thought leadership provided by SIM partners
  • Submissions for the SIM Paper Awards Competition, which is SIM's annual research contest that has attracted nationally recognized researchers for several years
  • Working group deliverables
  • Past annual conference presentations
  • Past academic workshop presentations

Eligibility for Membership

Information Technology Executives

Senior-level IS/IT professional in either a public or private sector organization meeting the following criteria:

•  CIO, CTO or CISO at a corporate or divisional level.
•  Direct reports to CIOs and CTOs, such as SVPs, VPs or Directors of IT.
•  Directors of IT who are two levels removed from the CIO, with significant or strategic management responsibilities, such as application or infrastructure portfolios.
•  Retired IT Executives


Academic Professionals

A full-time university or college faculty member who studies and contributes to thought leadership on the IT field.


Consultants

Leaders at the Partner/Principal level who influence the direction of their own company or their clients’ companies, and who directly contribute to the IT profession. To qualify, these individuals must be able to demonstrate that they operate at a senior executive level and that their responsibilities revolve around the delivery of consulting services, not primarily in selling services.


Accepted individuals understand that SCSIM maintains a strict “no solicitation” policy. Consultants may comprise no more than 15% of overall chapter membership, and those few consultants who are welcomed as members are practitioners who add value to our chapter members with their domain knowledge and expertise.


Non-IT Executive / Chief Digital Officer / CEO / Other Leader

Senior non-IT executive who plays a key role in the use of information technology. Please note that SIM adheres to a strict policy against any marketing or commercial activities. Marketing or Sales leaders of technology vendors are excluded from consideration.

Individual Member

Memberships follow the calendar year, with those members who join after July 1 gaining an extended first year of membership through the following year.

For-Profit – $350

Consultants – $350

Academic, Retired or Non-Profit – $237

Members In Transition (MIT)
Renewal charges will be waived for one year for current members only who notify SCSIM they are in between jobs and are up for renewal.

RLF Graduates
Following RLF graduation, first year dues will be waived by SCSIM and SIM National.

Corporate/Enterprise Membership

SIM’s Corporate Membership offers employers an opportunity to extend the benefits of SIM membership throughout their while reducing expenses to a single invoice.

Packages:

Enterprise Package (offers companies with 3 or more individual members a $20 dues discount per member)

  • Membership: Three or more individual memberships
  • Dues: $915
  • Additional members beyond the first three memberships to be charged $305 each
