  1. Share a fun personal fact: I achieved the top item on my bucket list by winning both National and Reserve National championships in Reining with my Arabian mare. This was extra special as I owned her mother, and she gave birth in our dome barn . I took up this highly disciplined and challenging Reining hobby at age 50 which goes to show you can always learn new things if you have the will and determination. Open to ideas for my next decade. Maybe mounted shooting?

  2. How long have you been a SIM member? I joined this group in 2017 after Harold invited me to attend as a guest.

  3. Why do you invest your time in SIM? I initially joined because the topics were great. I stayed on because the members are knowledgeable and fun! I was also able to build up my network. In fact, Brian Carlson was probably the linchpin in me landing my current position at Taylor Corp! Not only did he introduce me to a person who became my peer colleague, but he was on the alum board with the person who became my boss, the head of IT for Taylor Print and Visual Impressions Group.

  4. What is one of the most important lessons you have learned in your career? To unleash the potential of your employees, you must earn their trust and create a physiologically safe environment where they can be creative without fear of failure. Success is measured by what you learn as well as what you deliver. Lastly, always identify the customer focused “WHY” behind your strategy and use that to frame your tactical execution.

  5. Tell us about an impactful SIM event that you have attended, and what you took away from it. On a personal interest basis, I enjoyed the journey to the dark web. It was fascinating to learn what goes on there and how we need to protect our privacy. From a professional perspective, there was an RPA discussion that included a presentation by PWC followed by a roundtable with SIM members who brought a real-world perspective.

  6. What is one goal you have for 2021? For STEM, I would like to expend the reach of the TechGirlz workshops to 100+ students across the Twin Cities – either through workshops held concurrently on the same day at multiple locations or hosted virtually with multiple hosts and facilitators to achieve a closer interaction with the students.

  7. If you could have 1 day with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Eleanor Roosevelt has always intrigued me with her ability to influence and shape policies despite not holding an office. She had progressive ideas and was not afraid to get out in public to advocate for her beliefs.
