STEM EVENT:  The Minnesota chapter of the Society of Information Management (SIM) is working collaboratively with Target and TechGirlz to conduct a free “TechShopz in a Box” technology workshop for local middle school age girls. Studies have shown that girls become interested in STEM topics around age 11 and then quickly lose interest by age 15.  The purpose of the workshop is to introduce young girls to technology in a fun way and provide role models to counter gender stereotypes and channel girl’s career choices to STEM.

Target has graciously volunteered to host this event at their North Campus on February 17 from 2 – 6pm.  They are a leader in this community in developing professional women in technology through TWIST.  The workshop will also include a tour of their tech innovation lab.

There are a few slots still available for middle school girls to participate so complete your registration by February 10th.  For more information, contact Shelly Wolfram at 612-327-8380.
